MacDonalds Brewery was first licensed in 1836 and our buildings have been a brewery, racing stables, pub, tavern, morgue, inn and guesthouse ever since! It was particularly famous around Tasmania in the 1980s and 1990s for hosting weekly “Murder-Mystery” Private Bookings, where the plot and clues were shared each morning on ABC Radio. Now this grand Ol’gal of sandstone, flagstones and flagonsO’beer, is already back to its purpose of warmly welcoming guests and making them comfortable. It is primarily opened on the weekends to accommodate guests when Ratho Farm Highlands Resort is fully occupied.
